Current Research Projects-Teaching Medical Students With Simulation

Expanding Simulation Into the Basic Science Medical School Curriculum
Alyson Knapp BS, Robert Loeb MD, Marc Tischler PhD, Dominick DeLuca PhD, Mohamad Salkini MD, Allan Hamilton MD

Medical students spend the first two years of medical school in the classroom learning basic
science concepts. In the third and fourth years they are exposed to a clinical environment where they apply basic science concepts while adjusting to live patients. To ease the clinical transition, we introduced an exercise in the second year medical icrobiology and immunology course. This new case aims to integrate basic science principles into a clinical environment using simulation.
